Christy Nelson lives and works in Laporte, CO. She received her BFA in Painting from Mississippi State University in 2007. Since then she has been exploring themes of vulnerability and healing in her work. She recently was awarded the Kennedy Center Art Scholarship, the Keith Foskin Master of Fine Arts Scholarship, the Lilyblade Scholarship, and a distinction in creativity at the Graduate Student Showcase along with the Juror’s Award for Excellence and the Magnolia House Purchase Award in the Colorado State Student Exhibition. Christy has recently been an instructor for Two-Dimensional Visual Fundamentals and is now teaching Painting I at Colorado State University where she is also an MFA candidate.
