Christy Nelson lives and works in Laporte, an adventurous town nestled in the foothills of Colorado's Rocky Mountains. She received her Bachelors of Fine Art from Mississippi State University in 2007. Since then she has been exploring themes of safety and vulnerability in her work. She recently was awarded the Kennedy Center Art Scholarship and the Juror’s Award for Excellence in the Colorado State Student Exhibition. Christy is currently an instructor for Two-Dimensional Visual Fundamentals at Colorado State University where she is also a Masters of Fine Arts candidate.
