Christy Nelson lives and works in Laporte, CO. She received her BFA in Painting from Mississippi State University in 2007. Since then she has been exploring themes of vulnerability and healing in her work. Over the past 3 years, she has been awarded the Kennedy Center Art Scholarship, the Keith Foskin Master of Fine Arts Scholarship, the Lilyblade Scholarship, and a distinction in creativity at the Graduate Student Showcase along with the Juror’s Award for Excellence and the Magnolia House Purchase Award in the Colorado State Student Exhibition. Christy has recently completed her MFA in painting from Colorado State University where she was an instructor for Two-Dimensional Visual Fundamentals and Painting I. She now works for the Museum of Art Fort Collins as their Events Coordinator as well as continuing her independent studio practice.
